Sister C – made-in-Texas and, influenced by every genre of music you can imagine. Growing up in a household where recordings by Willie, Garth, Tim & Faith, Merle and George (both Jones AND Strait) were often followed by recordings of Ray Charles, Stevie Ray or the Rolling Stones, with a healthy dash of blues, jazz and zydeco sprinkled in, it’s not surprising that they are setting their own pace and creating their own unique style. Their love of every type of music from classic rock to traditional country and sultry blues to contemporary pop, led the natural progression to writing their own songs and partnering with likeminded cowriters, and although some of their material can be described as genre challenging, there is an indisputable country edge to everything they write, record and perform. Their bold and exciting rebellion against the “same song, different artist” approach to their career has them poised as the trailblazers of a whole new sound.

The comfort and ease they display both on and off stage and the energy they throw into every facet of their music is possibly the result of growing up in a relatively small Texas town in a family that hits the ground running every day. Whether working, hunting, mudding, riding horses, fishing, dancing, playing sports or singing, the girls were always somewhere in the mix with one or both their parents – and a slew of lifelong friends and extended family – not far away. Cirby, Carli and Celbi all agree: “We don’t have to look any further than our own home to find all the support we need for whatever we try to do. We know we can count on our family to be there for us and we can turn to our parents for anything – they are our heroes and our biggest fans. We realize how lucky we are to have a loving family to come home to and a bunch of amazing friends to hang out with. Not everyone is that fortunate and we are grateful every day.”

As for their early exposure to live music, the girls don’t have to look any further than their own home for that, either. They first jumped on the stage long before they were old enough to drive, singing the chorus of “Bar Light” or some other Texas country standard with their dad at music festivals and clubs when he fronted a Texas band. “Singing on stage and having everyone loving what you’re doing is such a thrill – even if you’re 10 years old and they’re all family and friends in the beginning, it still feels the same. When you’re grown and doing it for a living and get on stage in front of a sea of people you don’t even know, that feeling comes right back to you and they all feel like family and friends.”
Following that feeling has now taken Sister C to Nashville. Putting that feeling down on paper and then on tape will take them much further than Nashville. It might just take them to the top of the world.
